Whitewater rafting in Kitulgala and Nature holiday
There are 2 places in Kitulgala, where the waterfall abseiling is offered. Sandun Ella is the most popular spot for waterfall abseiling in Kitulagala. Sandun Ella is a 30 meters high waterfall, and the waterfall has a very wide face, which measured to be around 30 meters. Sandun Ella begins its journey at the south-west slope of the Unulugala mountain and it is one of the important tributaries of Kelaniya river. The road that leads to the waterfall from Kitulgala runs through very picturesque countryside with gardens, paddy fields, streams, rivers, and patches of forests. The 8km journey from Kitulgala to the waterfall takes around 30 minutes due to the dilapidated conditions of the road and subsequent walk is also required to reach the waterfall.
