Sri Lanka is inhabited by large number of animals. Being a small island Sri Lanka is a country with high endemic and low species variations in the world of fauna. The animal species have evolved for hundreds of thousands of years making unique characters limited to the animal within the country. There is very narrow chance for these animals to leave the country due to the surrounding ocean. Sri Lanka is inhabited by large number of avian fauna species as well. Being the country on the southernmost tip of the world all the migratory birds, which flies in the direction of equator from the western and eastern countries, have to ends their journey in Sri Lanka. National parks and wet lands of the country are full of those migratory birds especially from November-April.
